Christmas Eve

Worth The Wait

We (really it's just me) have made going to South Town Mall to see Santa a Christmas tradition. I love the Santa! He is so great. Adam is always a good sport. He'll do anything to make me happy, but I probably crossed the line when I made him take us to see Santa on Christmas Eve. The two hour wait really wasn't so bad. Adam will disagree. Aspen and Bentley did really well. Aspen and I made a few potty trips while Adam stood in line. Adam made a run to the food court while I stood in line. We made friends with the people in back of us even though they hated us for cutting in line- we really just took a friend's place in line that we happened to run into that was not going to stay for the wait (Thanks Jill). We saw someone in line to get their dog's picture with Santa- yes they had the dog dressed in a Christmas outfit. And we spilled a huge cup of water on Santa's carpet. Oops. At least it was just water.

The Santa at our ward Christmas party had made Bentley cry, but only during the second time I made her sit on his lap. I wanted a picture of BOTH Aspen and Bentley together on his lap and... I guess it was just too much to ask. I was nervous that Bentley was going to be too scared to sit on this Santa's lap, how horrible would that have been- after such a long wait, your kid doesn't even want to see Santa. When it was our turn, we were ushered to where Santa was sitting in his big green chair, and Aspen and Bentley walked right up to him and each took a leg to sit on. Bentley LOVED him. He must be the real Santa! She couldn't take her eyes off of him as he visited with them and Aspen told him she wanted a pink princess bike. Before they left, Bentley gave Santa a hug AND a kiss (I wasn't sure how I felt about the kiss- I just didn't think about it too much). Then, of course, Aspen wanted to give him a hug as well. They were both so cute! I loved it and think it was totally worth the wait. Don't ask Adam his opinion.
Dora Pajamas!

After visiting Santa we rushed home so I could go right back out to go grab some last minute Christmas gifts and then when I got back Adam took his turn to go do the same. I had planned to do a nice dinner, but Adam picked up Wingers instead. No one complained. After dinner Aspen and Bentley opened Dora Christmas pajamas ( I couldn't wait to open mine- I'd been wearing them since the day they were delivered, and Adam didn't want any). We read a pop-up book about Jesus' birth, threw reindeer dust of our balcony (Thanks to whoever left that on our front door- it was a cute idea), and tucked the kids in bed.

Family Pictures at Wheeler Farm

I know you can't believe it. A post! I thought I would post something to make inviting our friends and family to our newly private blog worth something.

Thanks to my mom for taking these pictures, my dad for helping, and Trina and Karl, Adam's sister and her husband, for letting us borrow their camera.

I need to remember in future years when we go to take outdoor pictures in the fall, that if it's after daylight savings, we have to go much earlier. We were losing daylight fast. Oh well, none of us are professionals, but we do our best to fake it.

Aspen's Quote Corner

I just updated Aspen's quote corner. Read and enjoy what our little funny girl is saying. I had a friend send me an email who had read it recently and wanted to share a couple things Aspen had said with her that were pretty funny. It inspired me to take the notes I've been making of the things Aspen has been saying and finally get them on my blog. Thanks Jessica, for sharing those cute stories with me. I hope you don't mind if I post them for everyone to read as well:

One of the first times she was at our house, I knew she was being potty trained at the time and she said she had to go to the bathroom. I didn't want to have to bring her down to your house so I just took her myself. When she was done she stood by the toilet and pointed saying, "Tada, poop!" I couldn't stop laughing for a few minutes because she was so serious and proud of herself.

Another time she was playing with that glass chess set that she liked so much and she dropped one of the pieces on the floor. I reminded her that we need to be careful and she just casually says, "That's okay, it was just an accident." I don't know how you can possibly ever discipline her because she is just so cute. I'm sure it's the same with Bentley.

I need to start a quote corner for Bentley, although she's not saying a whole lot. Her favorite word was "Doh!" (a mixture of "Don't" and "No") - as she pointed her finger, until I taught her to put an "N" at the beginning and now all she says is, "No." No "Yeses" yet, but she does do quite a bit of head nodding.

She also says "Uh-oh", Which is always one of my favorite first words from little kids, and "Oh!" after you tell her something, anything- like "Your shoes are over there." "Oh!"

Email From Michael Cline

I just received an email from Michael Cline, Jessie's brother. I'll thought I would share it with all of you who knew Jessie.

Hello Francine,

I am not sure if you have heard or not. My brother (Jessie Cline) was killed in a car accident on Sunday morning at 12:19 AM. He was coming home from a singles dance for the singles branch in our area. There was a dance for a few stakes about 1 1/2 hours driver from our home. On their way home Jessie pulled over to the side of the road (We assume to switch drivers). Just after he pulled over and parked a drunk driver (.22) rear ended his car. The driver was driving a dodge dakota and my brother was driving his car Barretta. His car was totally destroyed. We have been told all four people in the car died instantly and did not suffer.

This has been very hard for us. We love Jessie and miss him very much. I wanted to let you know and if you can pass the word I would appreciate it.

Service is going to be here in Hermiston Oregon at our stake center. It will be on Thursday Oct 23 at 10AM.

Thanks

Michael

Jessie Cline

Jessie Alan Cline passed away early Sunday morning after the car he was driving was hit by a drunk driver. Jessie lived around the block from my house while we were growing up. We were in the same ward and went to the same high school. I hadn't seen Jessie for years but recently messages just once or twice while I was helping to contact classmates for our 10-year reunion. It's strange to think he is now gone from this earth. He was faced with many challenges during his 29 years of life. At this time I am grateful for the knowledge the gospel gives me that I can know that Jessie is no longer held back by his body's imperfections. He can now look forward to being resurrected with a perfect body. I hope his family is finding comfort in the gospel. I pray they can find peace amidst this tragedy. Jessie, you will be missed.

TEN-Year Reunion

Has it already been ten years since I graduated from high-school? I really can't believe it!

Adam and I were supposed to each take a child and split up for the week-end. It wasn't a trial seperation, we're madly in love, it was just that his family had a trip planned to Bear Lake and I had my BIG 10-year reunion. Normally I love camping and I LOVE Adam's family, but I'm still trying to get back on my feet from being so sick with Crohn's, and so you could say I really didn't want to go camping. Adam didn't attend his own reunion, he think's he's too cool, so why would he come to mine when he could be camping and fishing and playing in the dirt? At the last minute we both compromised and together went to Bear Lake for just one of the two nights, came home, and together attended my reunion. Adam was a good sport and even socialized! It was fun to see old friends and how so many people really looked the same and a few looked really different. We had such a great turnout thanks to our Senior Class Officers ( It was really the girls that worked their butts off! Thanks Val and RaeLynn.) Unleash The Power, Baby! Go Jags!
